Tyrannosaurus Rex
The Dinosaur T. Rex was one of the greatest predators that ever lived. T. Rex were one of the biggest carnivores (meat eating dinosaurs), but not the biggest! Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus were bigger. Its dinosaur classification is Saurischia.
Tyrannosaurus Rex had powerful back legs that let it hunt prey over short distances at up to 20mph (32 kph). The T. Rex had quite a large brain for a dinosaur. This would have helped it hunt better and helped its vision and smell.

Tyrannosaurus Rex were meat eaters. They probably hunted Hadrosaurs and Triceratops. They would have also scavenged - stealing meals from smaller predators.

They lived about 65 to 70 million years ago - in the late cretaceous period.
Tyrannosaurus Rex were 12 metres (40 feet) in length and weighed 5 tons. Their heads were over 4 feet (1.25 metres), with very powerful jaws.
Triceratops
The meaning of Triceratops is 'three-horned face'. Its dinosaur classification is Ceratopsia.
To defend itself against meat eaters (predators) it had two long brow horns. These could grow to be at least 1 metre (3 feet) long. It also had a third shorter horn at the end of its nose. Triceratops would have been able to cause a lot of damage to an attacker!

Triceratops were plant eaters (herbivores) which grazed in large herds together.
They lived about 68 to 65 million years ago - in the late cretaceous period. This was at the same time as some really big meat eating dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Albertosaurus and Spinosaurus.
Their length was up to 9 metres (30 feet). They weighed 5 tons (about as much as a truck).
Stegosaurus
The meaning of Stegosaurus is 'roofed lizard'.Some of the bony plates of this dinosaur can be very large - over 1 meter (3 feet) high. Some scientist believe they were for defence, but others that they may have acted as a way of controlling temperature.
Because the Stegosaurus was heavy and slow moving, it used its powerful tail as a defense. Some species had two pairs of spikes at the end of the tail, others had four pairs. Stegosaurus didn't have a very big brain, so it probably just thrashed its tail about wildly

The Stegosaurus was a plant eater, which we call a herbivore. It is believed to have eaten plants such as mosses, ferns, horsetails, cycads and conifers or fruits. No grass though, because there was no grass at this time.

Stegosaurs lived about 150 million years ago in the Late Jurassic/Early Cretaceous Period, Lived in time before the Tyrannosaurus - but there were Allosaurus dinosaurs around.
